Wolf Craft’s July Updates

Phew! We’re about four and a half months into our little company! We set out to be able to work with people who need PR support, but for whatever reason a PR retainer is not the best fit for their needs. While we build our pr business, we’re committed to sharing the inner workings of what it is like to build a small business. We see it as our way of growing the pie for everyone.

News

1. We're just a smaaalllll, tiny business right now, in the first months of building what we hope will be something useful to other communicators, marketing teams, start ups, small businesses, and independent designers. Even though we're small, we want build our business right, from the start. We know how important it is to engage in the important conversations happening during this moment. We've built in several commitments that will extend beyond this month and into the lifetime of our business. They are:

  • We will always donate a percentage of sales to community organizations. We recognize that there are a lot of good places to send funds to, and we believe that smaller, community-based orgs need the money the most, and will make the most use of those contributions. Proceeds from our first course will be donated to the Audre Lord Project, a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans and Gender Non Conforming People of Color center for community organizing, focusing on the NYC area.

  • We will use our social media platforms to share the work of talented black designers, makers, and artists on a weekly basis and the work of POC-owned and women-owned businesses often.

  • We will continue to listen, reflect, and take concrete action as individuals and as a small business in the fight for equality and social justice. Black Lives Matter.

2.  We launched our first course! It is all about How to Pitch for Holiday Gift Guides. We turned this around lightening fast because we wanted to make sure we got it out on a timeline that is useful... so we haven't had a ton of time to promote the course leading up to its launch.

If you know someone who might benefit from the course, we'd be endlessly thankful if you share it with your friends. We developed it because we couldn't find this info ANYWHERE on the internet, which felt strange. Nora's pr firm, Wolf PR, has been pitching to gift guides for a decade, so we transformed this time-tested process into an online course. Below is some bit more info about how it's put together and why we think it's useful, esp if you're a pr practitioner, independent designer, or small business that sells products.

Wins

1. This week we received the best email you can get, from our our 1-on-1 client, Karin (who runs an incredible photography course website). You love to see it :)

This type of client message is what gives us momentum! She built on the skills we’ve developed together and is now beginning to steer her own ship towards her goals. We get so excited to see small businesses make progress in their outreach and PR goals.

We never thought working 1-on-1 would be so popular, in fact nearly all our slots are filled up. We're still maintaining our COVID pricing at $125/hour, though we anticipate that changing during summer as businesses around the world continue to re-open. If you're interested, please email us at hello@wolf-craft.com. We're starting a waiting list for those interested and will begin small group classes to handle the spillover.

2. We're gonna humble brag for a moment. We were featured in Business of Home's regular feature, Comings and Goings, last week. You can read about it here
